Grades K and 1

Students graduating from Kindergarten and first grades will use picture books and games to learn to identify and generate rhyming words. They will make connections between letters and their sounds, and they will use those sounds to spell unfamiliar words. In addition, they will make predictions about what they read/hear from information presented by instructors.

Grades K and 1

The goals for students who have completed Grades K and 1, are to increase their number sense and reinforce addition and subtraction concepts. This fun camp will use movement and games to keep students engaged in learning.

Grades 2 and 3

Students graduating from grades 2 and 3 will use picture books and games to learn about the figurative language (similes, idioms, metaphors) that inundate the items we read everyday. Students will be introduced to root words, prefixes, and suffixes and learn to use them to sound out, spell, and define unfamiliar words including academic vocabulary to prepare students for the upcoming school year. Finally, students will practice retelling a story with sufficient detail and sequence.

Grades 2 and 3

Students in graduating grades 2 and 4  will continue their work from the school year by focusing on addition and subtraction. We will also learn skip counting songs and work on multiplication fact fluency. Through hands on activities, worksheets, and songs, we will keep their brains sharp and reach for the fall!

Grades 4 and 5

Students graduating from grades 4 and 5 will use picture books and games to learn about the figurative language (similes, idioms, metaphors) that inundate the items we read everyday. Students will be introduced to root words, prefixes, and suffixes and learn to use them to sound out, spell, and define unfamiliar words including academic vocabulary to prepare students for the upcoming school year. Finally, students will practice retelling a story with sufficient detail and sequence.

Grades 4 and 5

Students graduating grades 4 and 5 will increase their multiplication fact fluency and continue the school year's work of 2x1 or 2x2 multiplication. Movement activities and real world application of math problems like computing the cost of keeping a pet will be used to keep students engaged. Who doesn't want to plan to keep their dream pet? The more exotic or fantastic the pet, the more fun we will have!
